22-24 MAY 2015

Gorizia embodies Italy’s most recent history: just a few kilometres from major WW1 battlefields, it was annexed to Italy in the aftermath of the
Second World War. Located on the border with Slovenia, together with its twin town Nova Gorica, Gorizia is a bridge between the so-called Old and New Europe. The city is now home to the major history festival in Italy, èStoria, which attracts thousands of scholars and amateurs. Since 2014, èStoria also features the World War 1 EU Tourism Fair focusing on the celebrations of the First World War Centenary.

International students will have the opportunity to:

  • meet international scholars and visit WW1 sites aboard the èStoriabus, where poet Giuseppe Ungaretti and author Ernest Hemingway composed some of their best works
  • visit the Carso area and experience Mitteleurope in the city of Trieste

International study tours start on Thursday 21 May and include fullboard accomodation for the whole duration of the event; bus transfers; special program of activities; recreational events; scientific publications.
